So here goes my first project post on the Creek, after the fact, and it's full of firsts for me. My wife wanted a small hall table for the stairway landing I recently remodeled so I told her that I could make one for her. Keep it simple, she said. I will, I said...sorta.
The landing isn't huge, so I wanted as much table as would fit the space without corners that wouldn't constantly bite us in the thighs. I had seen a design for a bow front hall table in one of the mags that I liked the looks of even though it was larger than would fit and had a drawer we didn't need. Based on that design I came up with this:

My wife thought I was complicating it but it was my first fine furniture project, my first bent lamination, and even my first tapered legs. I wanted to challenge myself and learn something new. Besides, the lines are still clean and simple. There were a couple of hiccups along the way but I'm pretty happy with the outcome, especially the curly figure in the tabletop:
