Powermatic wood lathe extension

Hell I am thinking on extending the bad of my lathe. I was hopping one of you mite has extend your lathe bed. Powermatic has and extension but like ever thing know day it a little pricey. $1200 plus shipping. I was hoping for some sort of a DIY that has been tried. Thanks
